Wikipedia: Hondón de las Nieves [onˈdon de laz ˈnjeβes]) is a municipality in the comarca of Vinalopó Mitjà in the Comunidad Valenciana, Spain.

The figures (Instituto Nacional de Estadística) of 2013 show a population of 3041 inhabitants of which 1640 Spaniards and 1401 foreigners. The municipality also includes two smaller villages, El Rebalso and La Canalosa. Hondon de las Nieves

The municipality has an area of 68.85 km and is located in a small valley, protected by the crevillent mountains. The municipality is full of pine, almond and olive trees, and vineyards. Some places worth visiting are La Cuesta and La Cruz, both suitable for relaxation and recreation. To explore the region on foot, the route Ruta del Alto Pelao is recommended, where one can observe many Mediterranean plants: pine, juniper, thyme, rosemary. History: It is known that the Christian armies conquered Hondón from the Moors in 1246. Until 1839 it was part of the jurisdiction of Aspe and in that year it became an independent municipality together with Hondón de los Frailes. In 1926 Hondón de las Nieves and Hondón de los Frailes were separated. In 1900 the municipality had 3,690 inhabitants, but still together with Hondón de los Frailes.
