Wikipedia: Las Bayas (La Baia in Valencian) is a hamlet located southeast of the municipality of Elche. It belongs to the Bajo Vinalopó region  and the province of Alicante (Spain). Las Bayas consists of two rural areas La Baya Alta and La Baya Baja (hence the name in plural), which in turn share urban core, traditions and services. And that his neighbors identify as one, and call it La Baya (La Baia in Valencian).

The name Las Bayas is related to La Sierra del Tabayá (Tabaià in Valencian, which lies north of the city of Elche and continues south of it.). It is believed that there must have been a higher part of this mountain range, which was at the end of this district. And that made a separation (“wall”) between the interior of Elche and the sea coast.

La Baya is 8.5 km from the town of Elche and 9 km from the neighbouring town of Santa Pola. The core of this rural area is located right in the center between La Baya Alta and La Baya Baja.
